As a fire goes out, only embers remain. With a little TLC, the fire can re-emerge and come back roaring, stronger than ever. This is how our girl Ember earned her name. Ember was found as a stray in southern Texas with her newborn pups. Upon entering animal control she was emaciated, had mange, and wore the face of defeat. She was dying and seemed to have accepted her fate and that of her pups. When MHCR saw her, we knew we needed to help her and her family. As Ember gained her strength back in her Colorado foster home, we saw the life and the fire within her begin to burn bright again.
Ember has now been spayed, gone through heartworm treatment, had extensive dental work and has the most beautiful, fiery red coat. Ember is a people dog through and through. She wants nothing more than to be by your side, snuggled against you and waiting for a morsel of food to drop from your hand. She prefers to not share her home canine or feline friends. However, with lots of patience and time she may be able to live with a male dog companion. Despite her quirks with other dogs, she is a wonderful dog who brings joy and life to whatever room she is in. She’s potty trained and crate trained and rides well in the car. Ember is estimated to be 5 years old and she is around 50 lbs.
