Kahlua — perhaps one of the most perfectly named dogs we’ve ever had the pleasure of hosting here at MHCR. Kahlua is a 16 week old, female, Catahoula mix (by our best guess). Sure, she has a beautiful and unique coat, but she’s much more than a pretty face. Kahlua is an active, playful, girl and has proven to be quite smart, as well! Her working dog roots are apparent in her play style and she will be best suited with a rough and tumble dog friend that also loves to play. An older dog or a small dog simply won’t do. Kahlua is crate trained & working on house training. She needs an active home with a fenced in yard and kiddos age 10-12+ (she’s not mean or aggressive, she’s just exuberant and mouthy).
Kahlua found herself at only 10 weeks of age in a high intake/high kill shelter in Texas. We, too, fell for her pretty face and agreed to offer her a spot within our rescue. Before she traveled, Kahlua came down with an illness that began to cause weakness in her hind end and high fever. She got immediate vet care, responded very quickly to meds, and was quickly on the mend. Unfortunately, as a result of her illness, she has one pupil that is permanently fixed in size and very likely has reduced vision in that eye. Otherwise, she’s a happy, healthy, pup ready to finally find her forever family!
