This sweet, special Rottweiler mix (possibly purebred) is Rambo. Rambo is around 2 years old and should weigh in at around 75-80 pounds at ideal weight. He was saved from a high volume, high kill shelter euthanasia list in NM, where he had been previously picked up as a stray. He was passed over for euthanasia because he is such a good boy with staff yet was overlooked for adoption probably because he was on the shy side and just another big, black dog out of so many. This poor boy was feeling pretty defeated and broken hearted, and was emaciated and quite ill on arrival to rescue.
Once his medical needs were addressed and he was settled into foster care, his transformation began. He is gaining weight, getting healthier by the day physically and emotionally and is coming out of his shell! Rambo is excited about life again, doing well with routine and crate training, and loves the attention of humans and being included in a family. His little nubbin wags so hard when he is told that he is a good boy! He is even starting to play with toys and get the ‘zoomies’!
Rambo doesn’t enjoy raised voices or fast movements and that is evidenced by his propensity to cower. However, he has been very brave and comfortable with people and all handling including veterinary handling with zero signs of aggression to people. He is a smart, sensitive boy with such a gentle and loving demeanor and wants so badly to please humans. He seems to do ok with most other resident and foster dogs in his foster home, however could be dog selective. This boy seems so grateful about life and the ‘little things’ and is a foster favorite who deserves the best from here on out with an amazing forever family. A house with a yard is strongly preferred for this big guy as well as a family that can offer stability and consistency for him to count on long term after the hard times he has been through.
