It is our sincerest pleasure to introduce you to Riley. Riley is an 8-year-old, female, Mastiff. She joins us from a small shelter in New Mexico. Riley entered our care back in early June of 2023. The shelter she transferred from did their best for her, but they could not isolate what was going on with her medically. They felt she was a hospice dog. Well, we can’t say no to a Mastiff in need, so she made the trip with the intention of making her final days as comfy and full of love as possible. But first, a visit to the vet. Well, to say we were relieved is an understatement. Riley had a raging case of mastitis from years of being bred over and over again. She was treated with a long course of antibiotics, had some mommy lumps and bumps removed (all of which were benign) and now she’s as good as new, only better! Riley is now a snuggly, happy, lazy, occasionally playful, sweet girl who embodies what we all love about the Mastiff breed. She’s great with dogs and will thrive in a home with other dog friends but she’s over the days of having small kids running around and prefers a more mature household. Home living was very new to her and we believe she was kept outdoors for a majority of her life. She’s adapted seamlessly and after a few days to get used to her new digs, we’re sure you’ll find the same! Riley is a smaller girl, not quite 100 lbs.
