Please meet Haven. Haven is a gorgeous, 3-year-old, Great Dane mix. She’s what we call a Pocket Dane as she’s only about 85 lbs. I guess you’d still need a pretty big pocket, but you get the idea. Haven joined MHCR after she and 10 other dogs were surrendered to a high intake shelter in New Mexico. Haven was by far the most shut down of the group, refusing to leave her run even when presented with an open door. A foster in CO heard her plea and she made the scary trek to safety. After a few days in her foster home, we discovered Haven is just delightful. But, this sweet baby was painfully under-socialized and takes a few days to really settle into a home. We feel she would thrive in an adult only home or with older kiddos that are more predictable. Haven definitely finds comfort in other dogs and we feel her success moving into an adoptive home will be greatly increased if her forever humans have a multi-dog home and a fenced in backyard. Haven loves to snuggle in bed or on the couch, so furniture privileges are a plus!
