Alex's Story

Alex is a 2 year old, female, pittie mix! She’s short and stout weighing in around 55 lbs. Alex had a long list of things she loves: water, car rides, hikes, attention, sunbathing, stuffed animals, and dog friends! She loves to play but she isn’t a high energy girl. She knows how to chill and cuddle for a nap sesh, too. Alex is house and crate trained, walks well on a leash, and is trustworthy free roam at her foster home. She can be a bit shy when meeting new people but she warms up and becomes social and affectionate. Alex is a little piggie and will need humans that can carefully monitor her calorie intake — she had a TPLO surgery and gained some lbs right under our noses! Alex is low heartworm positive and has had treatment. She is due for a retest in approx 6 months.

My daughter and I have been volunteering with Mile High since its beginning, mostly driving the rescue van to NM to help with transports. We connect with other rescue partners, helping these dogs get to CO and then to foster homes, vet care, and their forever homes. We get to spend time together and feel good about helping the pups.
