Hi! I’m Joey! I’ve been hanging out here behind the scenes with my foster mom at MHCR since January! I’m 8 months old now. When I was just a day old, my breeder sent me to live with a rescue lady because I have a cleft lip and palate. The nice lady fed me with a tube until I was big and strong enough to eat dog food. Lucky for me she was willing to help me! The vet there tried to do a surgery to fix my cleft palate. They told me it was really severe. When I was a little older, they sent me off to CO so I could be placed with a rescue that knew more about my breed. This is because I’m super special! When I got here, I went to see the good, smart, folks at CSU. Sooooo many doctors came and looked at me. Then they said I needed to see the dentist because some of my teeth weren’t growing in the right way due to my cleft. I had to wait until I had my grown-up teeth for them to do this. As of today, I’m cleared for adoption, FINALLY! Let me tell you a little about my perfect home. Due to my breed, the lady at the rescue says I need a family that has experience with dominant giant breeds (she compared me to a cane corso, dogo, etc. but I told her I’m much cooler than them). I’m good with dogs after a proper intro but the lady insists I be with a female dog or as an only dog. I don’t know why she’s being so picky! I’m crate trained and house trained. I’m already over 70 lbs so once I finish growing up I’m going to be a big, huge pile of wrinkly goodness. With my humans, I’m obviously the baby. I will find a way to curl up in anyone’s lap and take a rest. if a lap isn’t available, a nice dog bed in front of the fireplace will do. I’m hoping to find my forever home very soon!
