Rufus's Story

Rufus is a handsome, young, lad that’s traveled all the way from Arkansas to join the ranks at MHCR. He’s around 2 years old and was seized from a property with a few other dogs where he had been kept in a small garage. Rufus quickly joined the short list of staff favorites, which kept him alive long after his housemates were euthanized due to lack of space. He made his way by private plane (don’t worry, he’s not bougie) and landed softly in a foster home. Rufus is dog friendly (though he takes his snacks quite seriously and needs high value items given separately), loves kiddos, and is well mannered in a home. His favorite thing is when he goes camping with his foster moms parents — he so loves to follow grandpa around. Rufus is a mellow guy and around 55-60 lbs. A cozy couch and a loving home is all he’s ever wanted.

My daughter and I have been volunteering with Mile High since its beginning, mostly driving the rescue van to NM to help with transports. MHCR does the best job at supporting their fosters, because they foster too. They do their best to get supplies to foster homes to cut down on out-of-pocket costs for foster families.
