Meet Charlie ❤️

Charlie is proof that even the sweetest dogs don’t always get their happily-ever-after on the first try. This 5.5-year-old, 100+ pound German Shepherd mix has had more than his fair share of life changes, and he’s really hoping his next home will be his forever home.

Charlie originally came to MHCR as a transfer from another rescue when he was just 6 months old. He was adopted and enjoyed several wonderful years with his family before their declining health brought him back to rescue. After five months, he found a new family, but unfortunately, their relationship ended, and Charlie is once again looking for a place to call home. Through it all, he remains the loving, sweet, playful boy he’s always been.

Charlie loves his Chuckit balls, his stuffies, and spending time with his people. He’s house-trained and crate-trained, and he’d prefer a human who’s around more often than not, as he can get a little anxious when left alone for long periods.

At 100+ pounds, Charlie is a big guy who needs a home with a yard. He can be leash-reactive toward other dogs, and managing that reactivity with a dog of his size can be challenging. He’s best suited as the only dog in the home, where he can soak up all the love and attention for himself. Charlie also has some allergies that require daily medication to keep him comfortable.

Charlie has already experienced enough goodbyes. He’s a wonderful dog who deserves stability, love, and a family that will stick by him through life’s changes. ❤️
