This beautiful girl is Rue! She is around 3 years old, about 40 pounds, and we suspect a lab mix of some sort. Her gorgeous blue eyes are one of her best features! This poor girl was saved just as she was being loaded onto the euthanasia truck at a high intake, high kill shelter in New Mexico. And we are so glad we did! Rue was there through no fault of her own, was terrified in the shelter, and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. She truly is a gem of a dog. She’s a quiet, gentle, mellow soul. We don’t know much about her past since she was picked up as a stray, but it is evident she has had puppies before (probably more than once) and seems to have a lot of patience and wisdom about her. She loves people of all sorts and likes other dogs as well. She walks well on a leash, rides well in the car, and is a very good girl with crate training; we suspect she may be fully house-trained but we are still evaluating. Given her condition on arrival, we do suspect she had to live outside a lot previously. Luckily, she is looking better all the time and has no known health issues. Rue’s fosters say she is one of the easiest dogs they’ve ever had around. She is ready to have a better life now and find her forever family. She is a very loving girl that would do well in a variety of homes but we do feel as though she would most appreciate a fairly calm household with comfy beds to sleep on, grass to roll in, and to continue to be reminded every day that people can be good.
