Don’t be fooled by this epic Sarah McLachlan face. Tank is a happy, goofy boy! He joined MHCR back in August of 2022 after he was surrendered to a high kill shelter in Texas because his owners could not afford his care. Tank wasn’t afforded the lavish lifestyle we’ve come to expect all Mastiffs lead. He was kept outdoors, which caused him to develop nasty calluses on his back legs. Upon arrival and being seen by our vet, it was decided that the largest callus should be removed and sent off to pathology. We anxiously awaited the results and were ECSTATIC to hear that Tank’s calluses were indeed just that, calluses. Now, the LONG process of healing such a giant area began. Months of bandage changes and wound care ensued. Alas, the day has finally come that we get to offer this lovely beast for adoption into a forever home of his own!
Tank is now approx 6 years old. He’s around 125-130 lbs. He’s EXCELLENT with dog friends and kiddos. He’s never met a cat, so we can’t speak to that. He enjoys leisurely strolls in his backyard, endless snuggles on the couch, and the occasional belly rub. He’s also decided that human beds are the perfect Mastiff size and that’s right where he belongs. Don’t worry, he’ll find room. Tank’s forever humans should have plenty of soft surfaces for him to rest on and be willing to keep his freshly formed skin padded until it thickens up. He promises to repay you with the most loyal, loving, face ever to walk the face of the Earth.
