Colorado’s First Full Circle Rescue

What is a “full circle
rescue organization?

A Full Circle rescue is an organization that tackles the pet overpopulation crisis in a multi-faceted way.  MHCR understands you cannot reduce the number of dogs entering and being euthanized in shelters due to the lack of space by adoption alone.

Our Peggy Sue is one in a million.
No, really – wait! Hear us out.

Peggy Sue has a cute little-piggy tail, and three paws that make it sound like a herd of kittens are chasing you when she runs up from behind. She loves to chase. She’s getting really good at chasing the ball, in fact. Oh wait, what is that you say? You want the ball BACK?! Well, we’re still working on that. We’re also working on house training (uses a dog door 90% of the time, and a puppy pad when she can’t quite make it out), and leash walking which is VERY VERY exciting.

Peggy Sue is a smart gal, always quick to teach her foster mom a thing or two. She has already taught her foster mom that she really doesn’t like the crate. She much prefers a 4 x 4 indoor dog enclosure when you must leave home without her, thank you very much. Oh, and night-time means BED-time. She can be trusted to snuggle (and kick) you all night long.

Peggy Sue is a bit shy when she first meets someone new, but come on…aren’t we all? She warms up pretty quick, once she realizes you also think she is wonderful. And who wouldn’t?!

Oh, and that one in a million we mentioned at the beginning? She literally is. Peggy Sue is a suspected hermaphrodite. This means that there is a small possibility that testicles may appear as she ages. Our vet looked and looked and didn’t find any, but, not to worry – MHCR will cover the neuter if this happens. Peggy Sue was born with a deformity in her front leg and subsequently had it amputated. She had “fairy bones” in that leg, which means her bones never calcified.

Carla wasn’t sure she was ever going to be ready for a forever home. She was shy and weary of people. Once her dad sat down and gave her time to figure out that he was a good guy- she knew she was safe and loved! She spends her days chasing the deer and cuddling with her family

Peanut! Named because of her color and perfect size! Peanut is a 12 week old, female, Chihuahua/Terrier mix. This girl is on the GO. She’s dog friendly, loves to play, and is good with older kiddos (she hasn’t been around young ones, but we suspect fine). Peanut will enjoy an active home that can help tire her out.

Beautiful Angel came to us under weight and feeling lost. Her foot was broken, she had an infection and missed her family. After helping her in rehab she thrived and we knew she was ready to find her forever! She met her new family and the love connection was instant! Congratulations Angel. You are forever in our hearts 💕

Sweet little Dobby, named for what we hope is an obvious reason to you, is a precious, 12 week old, female, Chihuahua/Terrier mix. Dobby has places to go and people to meet. She’s an active, social girl that will benefit from a fun, playful home that loves all things small dog.
