Miles is a 14-pound, Jack Russell Terrier mix (he’s short and long, so we think there’s some Dachshund in there), with a loving personality and easygoing nature. He’s estimated to be about 7 years old, so he’s past the puppy stage but still playful and full of life. Miles’ story started out rough — he was found as a stray and ended up on the euthanasia list simply because he was too scared in the shelter. Once he got to his foster home, though, his true personality came out almost immediately. He loves to cuddle and be held (preferably on his back like a baby!), follows his humans around the house, and often stands on his hind legs to politely ask to be picked up.
He’s house trained, crate trained, and trustworthy when left to free-roam. He tends to mark in the home, but has recently been neutered, which should decrease the urge to mark. He does well with a belly band if needed. Miles loves toys, chasing squirrels, and doing everything his foster brother does. He’d be happiest in a home with another friendly dog to play with and give him confidence when his humans leave the house.
Miles hasn’t quite figured out how to walk on a leash, so he’d do best with a fenced yard where he can safely explore and play. With his moderate energy level, he’s just as happy curling up for snuggles as he is chasing after a ball. Miles has done well meeting new people and other dogs. He hasn’t been around cats or kids yet, but his calm, gentle nature suggests he’d adjust well.
