Sam is a shy, little, red headed lad looking for just the right home. He and his littermates were dumped out in the country at around 5-6 months old. Can you even imagine how scared they must have been? Once they were picked up, they spent the next few months at a shelter until, one-by-one, they were chosen by rescues and brought into foster care. Sam is around 10 months old now. He’s a peanut, weighing in around 35 lbs. Sam isn’t trusting of new people and his forever humans should know it will take him some time to trust them. Once he trusts you, he’s playful and affectionate! He thrives off the presence of other dogs and his forever home should have at least one. We think a home without small children that’s on the quiet side would be best. Sam is learning about crate training and it’s been a slow process. For now, when he’s left alone, he gets kinda nervous and is best when confined to a small room. He needs plenty of chew toys since he’s a young man with an active mind and body. Sam loves car rides, is learning that walks can be quite fun, and always first in line for pets. When it’s nap time, he will find the biggest, fluffiest blanket he can find and curl right up. If you have a heart for the underdog and enjoy watching a dog that was dealt a poor hand open up and blossom, Sam is the dog for you!
