Sweet little snuggly Shaggy is finally ready for adoption! This adorable, 4 lbs, Shih Tzu with the oddly human expressions and the larger than life personality has been waiting for this day for nearly 6 months. Shaggy is the perfect walking companion, napping buddy, and lap warmer. He wants to be where you are and is happy to be doing what you’re doing. He’s dog friendly, cat friendly, loves kids, truly he’s a gem! Unless you’re a groomer – then, well, may the force be with you. Shaggy would love a home with a yard for his daily zoomies. He’d particularly enjoy humans that work from home because he takes his work naps very seriously (not required, just a bonus) and a canine companion would be ultra fun, too!
When Shaggy first entered MHCR months ago, we noticed he had an extremely difficult time taking a bowel movement. It seemed very painful for him and he struggled greatly. After a trip to a specialist and much imaging, it was discovered Shaggy had a rectal stricture. That means he had some tissue around a part of his rectum similar to a really tight rubber band that made it difficult for him to defecate. Shaggy had to have a few “stretching” sessions under anesthesia to loosen the stricture and ultimately it worked!! Once we knew this result would stick, it was off to the orthopedic specialist for some pesky luxating patellas. Don’t worry, we got those fixed up too! Alas, it is his time to shine and find his forever home.
