Meet Jethro! With his scruffy little face and adorable expressions, this 13 year old Miniature Schnauzer mix looks suspiciously like a little koala masquerading as a dog. He came to us from Texas after his owner passed away, and it’s clear that Jethro was very much loved. He’s currently around 17 pounds, though his ideal weight is closer to 15 pounds or under, so he’s got a few pounds to lose before he’s back to his svelte self.
Jethro is sweet, friendly, and just the right amount of silly. He loves having his people nearby and is happiest when he can hang out close by, supervising whatever you happen to be doing. He doesn’t need to be in your lap or the center of attention every minute, but he does like knowing his people are around. He’s also cat and dog friendly, so he could happily live with cats, other dogs, or be your one and only. Jethro is pretty easygoing as long as he gets to be part of the family.
This little guy still knows how to have a good time – he enjoys his walks, loves car rides, and is always up for tagging along on an adventure. He can even have a blast with a fun little toy from time to time because 13 is no reason to stop playing! He reportedly had a few seizures in his previous home, but they have been well controlled with medication and haven’t been an issue since starting treatment. While Jethro looks like a Schnauzer, he missed the memo about the non-shedding gene.
